Refunds and Cancellation
Last updated: 3 August 2026.
This policy is part of our Terms of Service and applies to every Nightshift Software service.
Cancelling a subscription
You can cancel at any time, from inside the service, in the same number of steps it took to subscribe. You do not have to email us and you do not have to give a reason.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the period you have already paid for: you keep access until that period runs out, and then the plan stops. We do not refund the unused part of a period you chose to cancel partway through, except where a statutory right below applies.
Your 14-day right to change your mind
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you normally have 14 days from buying a digital service to cancel and get your money back, with no reason needed.
There is an exception the law makes for digital content supplied immediately, and it applies to us. If you ask us to start supplying the service straight away, and you acknowledge at that moment that doing so means you lose the 14-day right, then you lose it. Our checkout asks for both, plainly, before you pay. If you would rather keep the right, do not agree to immediate supply: you will wait, but you will keep it.
If you did not agree to immediate supply, or you were not asked, the 14-day right stands. Email support@nightshiftsoftware.co.uk and we will refund you in full to the payment method you used.
When we refund beyond that
The statutory right is a floor, not a ceiling. We will refund you when:
- You were charged for a period you could not use because the service was broken or unavailable for a meaningful part of it.
- You were charged after cancelling, or charged twice, or charged an amount you did not agree to.
- We closed your account for a reason that was not your fault, or we withdrew the service. In both cases we refund the unused part of what you have paid.
- You bought the wrong thing and have barely used it. Ask. We would rather refund you than keep money from someone who does not want the product.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Stripe usually takes a few working days to land one, and that part is not ours to speed up.
Changing plans
Moving between plans partway through a period is prorated by Stripe: moving up charges you the difference for the rest of the period, and moving down credits it against your next invoice rather than paying it out.
Failed payments
If a payment fails we do not cut you off straight away. Stripe retries for a while and your plan stays active during that window. If it never goes through, the plan lapses back to whatever the service offers without a subscription.
Who refunds you
The seller for your purchase, and therefore the party that issues the invoice and processes the refund, is: Stripe. Nightshift Software sells through Stripe Managed Payments, which makes Stripe the merchant of record: Stripe is the seller to you, issues your invoice, and registers for and remits any sales tax or VAT. Your rights against us for the service itself are not affected.
Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong, email us before raising a chargeback with your bank. We can usually refund you the same day, whereas a chargeback takes weeks and gives us no way to fix the underlying problem. We do not close accounts for raising one.
